Suzlon Group plans to invest Rs 100 bn in Andhra Pradesh as part of an expansion that includes the development of 1,325 megawatts (MW) of new wind projects in the Rayadurg constituency of Anantapur district. State information technology minister Nara Lokesh will inaugurate Suzlon's new S144 wind blades at Huliker village in Kanekallu mandal, the company said. The announcement followed a corporate release outlining the company's growth strategy in the state.

The new projects are expected to create around 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities and Suzlon is targeting five gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable energy capacity in the state by 2030. Suzlon already has more than 1,700 MW of installed wind energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh, which positions the group to scale up project execution. The company indicated that the expansion forms part of a broader effort to support renewable energy adoption in the region.

Suzlon began operations in Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and has established a manufacturing and project footprint in Anantapur district, including a rotor blade manufacturing facility at Ippuru in Kuderu mandal that supports projects in partnership with leading energy companies such as Tata Power. The facility accounts for around 40 per cent of Suzlon's blade production and has annual production capacity equivalent to 1,260 MW. The role of local manufacturing was cited as a key enabler for faster project delivery and supply chain resilience.

The company has invested around Rs 120 bn in Andhra Pradesh so far and its operations have already generated employment for around 2,200 people in the state. The Andhra Pradesh government and Suzlon are collaborating on a large scale green skills development programme with Wind Energy Learning Centres in Uravakonda and Vijayawada, which have trained around 12,000 young professionals. Women account for around 25 per cent of the trainees, creating greater opportunities for participation in the emerging green economy.
