The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) report for the Assam Licensed Service Area, evaluating network performance across Silchar city and Hailakandi and Karimganj districts. Conducted between 18 and 22 August 2025, the tests covered 284 km of city routes, 10 hotspot locations, and 2.4 km of walk tests.

The assessment, supervised by the TRAI Regional Office, Kolkata, examined real-world service quality across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies in both urban and rural zones. Key parameters included call setup success rate, drop call rate, latency, throughput, and speech quality.

In overall performance, Reliance Jio achieved a 100 per cent Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), followed by Airtel at 99.80 per cent, Vodafone Idea at 90.62 per cent, and BSNL at 82.03 per cent. Drop call rates stood at 0 per cent for Jio, 1.18 per cent for Airtel, 0.83 per cent for Vodafone Idea, and 3.04 per cent for BSNL.

For data services, Jio recorded the highest average download speed of 219.13 Mbps and an upload speed of 15.73 Mbps, followed by Airtel at 141.87 Mbps download and 27.26 Mbps upload. Vodafone Idea achieved 22.68 Mbps download and 6.71 Mbps upload, while BSNL registered 1.69 Mbps download and 3.70 Mbps upload.

Latency tests showed Jio leading with the lowest 50th percentile latency of 20.55 ms, followed by Airtel (27.00 ms), Vodafone Idea (48.85 ms), and BSNL (54.00 ms).

The IDT also covered key institutions such as Assam University, NIT Silchar, Cachar College, and Silchar Medical College, along with major railway stations in Hailakandi, Karimganj, and Silchar.

According to TRAI, the findings have been shared with all telecom service providers to support continued improvement in network performance and user experience across the region.
