The Ministry of Power convened a meeting of the India Energy Stack (IES) Taskforce to review foundational documents for the development of the country’s Digital Public Infrastructure for the power sector. The IES initiative aims to create a unified, secure, and interoperable digital backbone covering the full energy value chain, with REC Limited as Nodal Agency and FSR Global as Knowledge Partner.

The meeting focused on reviewing the draft IES Strategy Document and the IES Architecture Document, both issued in version 0.1. Taskforce members held an in-depth roundtable discussion to provide strategic guidance for refining the framework ahead of pilot deployment.

The session was attended by Chairman Dr Ram Sewak Sharma; Chief Architect Sh Pramod Verma; Vice Chair Sh Pradeep Kumar Pujari; and key representatives from CEA, AIDA, REC, Grid India, IEEMA, FSR Global, FIDE, PVVNL, NITI Aayog, and the Ministry of Power.

Shri Jitendra Srivastava, CMD, REC Limited, said: “Today’s meeting is a pivotal milestone in our shared national ambition to create a unified, open, and future-ready digital backbone for India’s entire energy sector. The IES Strategy and Architecture documents are vital frameworks that will be enriched by the collective wisdom and guidance of our esteemed Taskforce members.”

IES is intended to enable open data exchange through common digital protocols, open APIs, and federated registries, addressing sectoral silos and supporting renewable energy integration, green energy markets and operational efficiency for DISCOMs. Members stated that IES is expected to have a transformational impact comparable to Aadhaar in digital identity and UPI in payments.

The inputs from the meeting will guide refinement of the documents and preparation for the pilot phase. Taskforce meetings will be held monthly to maintain momentum, and the IES project is scheduled for completion by July 2026.
