Steel Ministry Holds Two-Day Chintan Shivir in Bhubaneswar

The Ministry of Steel is organising a two-day Chintan Shivir in Bhubaneswar from 20 November 2025 to deliberate on the strategic vision and future roadmap of India’s steel industry. Hosted at the Mayfair Convention, the event will bring together senior leadership, policymakers and heads of Central Public Sector Enterprises under the Ministry of Steel.

Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Steel, and Shri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Minister of State for Steel, will preside over the sessions alongside Steel Secretary Sandeep Poundrik and senior ministry officials. The Shivir is designed as a collaborative platform for brainstorming, experience sharing and aligning priorities to strengthen the domestic steel ecosystem.

The thematic discussions will focus on integrating emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and digital tools to enhance productivity, efficiency and competitiveness. Operational excellence across the steel value chain, including process optimisation and performance improvement, will be a key area of emphasis. The programme will also highlight the need to promote indigenous technologies, supporting the broader goals of self-reliance and innovation.

Further, the Shivir will examine modern mining practices, infrastructure upgrades and capacity enhancements to meet increasing industry demand. The deliberations aim to shape a forward-looking strategy for the sector, reinforcing its critical role in India’s economic and industrial growth.
