Noida Airport Busway Nears Completion, 22-Lane Road By Year-End

The Noida airport busway is nearing completion and will link with a new 22-lane road expected to be operational by year-end. The transport authority has advanced work on the dedicated bus corridor to relieve mounting traffic pressure on the 130-metre-wide main thoroughfare. The scheme is being timed to coincide with the opening of Noida International Airport and aims to provide a direct, reserved route for bus services. Officials describe the busway as a strategic element of the wider connectivity plan.

The chief executive officer of the authority, NG Ravi Kumar, emphasised the importance of completing the project on schedule to balance traffic demands on the adjacent road. Planners expect the busway to reduce congestion for both airport-bound passengers and local commuters by separating mass transit from general traffic. Construction progress has focused on carriageway paving, drainage works and traffic management measures to ensure uninterrupted operation once the airport becomes active. The authority reported coordinated work with local municipalities to align feeder roads.

The current phase has an estimated cost of Rs 105 million (Rs 105 mn) and covers a stretch of three kilometres on either side of the busway. The figure was provided by project managers who outlined resource allocation for pavement rehabilitation, signage and intelligent traffic systems. Funding has been apportioned to maintain safety standards and to accelerate completion within the set timeframe. Additional phases are planned to link residential and commercial zones as airport traffic patterns become clearer.

Transport planners view the busway as integral to a comprehensive effort to address future mobility needs in the region and to avert strain on existing infrastructure. Officials have scheduled trials and phased commissioning ahead of the airport launch to fine tune operations and schedules. The authority continues to monitor traffic modelling and to coordinate public transport operators to ensure efficient utilisation of the reserved corridor. Residents and businesses are being updated on timelines and temporary traffic diversions.
