CMRL, Jakson Sign E&M Deal for Chennai Metro Phase 2 Corridor 4
The agreement was executed by Manoj Goyal, director (systems and operations) at CMRL, and Yogendra Prasad, senior manager (EPC business) at Jakson Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations and technical advisors.
CMRL had invited bids for the contract with a completion timeline of 1,630 days and received submissions from four firms. Following technical and financial evaluations, Jakson Limited was declared the lowest bidder in December 2025.
The scope of work includes the supply, installation, testing, commissioning and training for electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems across eight underground stations between Light House Metro and Kodambakkam Metro. It also covers associated underground works, including bored tunnels between stations, cut-and-cover boxes, U sections and ramps along the specified chainage for Corridor 4 under Phase II.
Chennai Metro Phase 2 has a total planned length of 118.9 km and comprises three new corridors. Corridor 4 (Orange Line) runs from Light House to Poonamallee Bus Depot, with 16 km elevated and 10.1 km underground sections, forming a critical east–west link across the city.
