Eight Firms Bid For Mumbai Rail Upgrade Project

The Mumbai rail upgrade project has attracted eight competitive bids from leading infrastructure companies, signalling strong industry interest in the city’s transport modernisation drive. The project aims to enhance capacity, improve safety, and reduce travel times for millions of daily commuters.
The scope of work includes track renewal, signalling upgrades, station modernisation, and the introduction of advanced passenger amenities. Officials said the project is part of a broader plan to transform Mumbai’s suburban rail network into a faster, more reliable, and efficient system.
The bidding process reflects healthy competition in the infrastructure sector, with several major players seeking to secure contracts for one of India’s largest urban transport initiatives. Evaluation of bids is underway, with contract awards expected in the coming months.
