Jupiter Wagons Signs 10 Year Supply Pact With Tatravagonka
Through a greenfield plant in Odisha the company has planned an annual capacity of 0.1 million (mn) wheelsets and expects to export approximately 50,000 wheelsets annually to European markets, positioning India in the global rail supply chain. The arrangement envisages Tatravagonka and its affiliates procuring wheels, axles and wheelsets from the new facility. The tie-up is intended to validate the company's technology, manufacturing processes and quality standards for international markets.
The Odisha facility is being developed with an estimated investment of Rs 30 billion (bn) and an annual production capacity of 0.1 million (mn) wheelsets to cater to domestic and international demand. The company has indicated that 40-50 per cent of the plant's output is expected to be directed towards export markets over the long term. Commercialisation of the plant will form part of the decade-long supply relationship.
The managing director described the agreement as an important milestone for the company and for India's rail manufacturing ecosystem and said the country would move from net importer to major exporter of wheelsets. He also indicated an expected revenue addition of Rs 10-15 billion (bn) from exports in the coming years. Separately, a subsidiary signed memoranda of understanding for 110 MWh of battery energy storage systems for fiscal years 2026-27, covering utility-scale and commercial deployments.
