Japanese industrial automation giant OMRON announced on Wednesday that it will train and skill 1,000 fresh engineering graduates annually at its newly launched Automation Centre in Bengaluru. The initiative aims to enhance India’s employable manufacturing talent and build a resilient, future-ready industrial ecosystem.

Motohiro Yamanishi, President of the Industrial Automation Company at OMRON Corporation, said, “We see immense potential in the dynamism of India’s manufacturing sector. The new Automation Centre underscores India’s vital role in our global and Asia-Pacific vision. It is designed to work hand-in-hand with local partners to enhance global competitiveness and address evolving societal needs through innovative automation.”

Mr Yamanishi noted that the training programme will target graduates from various engineering disciplines, providing them with practical automation technology skills to improve employability across India’s manufacturing sector.

“This new centre is more than a showcase of technology—it is an engine for co-creation. With smart technologies driving efficiency and innovation, such facilities will be key catalysts in India’s journey to becoming a global manufacturing leader,” he added.

The Bengaluru Automation Centre joins OMRON’s global network of 44 such facilities and Proof of Concept (POC) labs. It will serve manufacturers, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), by offering automation solutions, facilitating proof-of-concept development, providing technical training, and promoting collaboration with machine builders and system integrators.

The centre will act as a dynamic hub, where specialists demonstrate and co-develop automation solutions using advanced technologies such as sensing, control, machine vision, safety systems, robotics, and AI-driven applications developed by OMRON and its partners.

OMRON’s portfolio includes solutions for data visualisation, flexible assembly, packaging, end-to-end inspection, quality control, and automated palletising. These are designed to support sectors including electric mobility, digital manufacturing, food and consumer goods, logistics, and pharmaceuticals.
