The Railway Minister convened a high level security review at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi to assess recent incidents affecting the network. The meeting was chaired by Ashwini Vaishnaw and attended by Ministers of State for Railways V Somanna and Ravneet Singh Bittu and the Chairman of the Railway Board. Officials from across the country participated in consultations with senior ministry officers to review intelligence and operational responses.

It was noted that initial probes pointed to the involvement of anti social elements in multiple incidents, including recent fire events, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is conducting active investigations. The ministry said several cases saw prompt action that averted major eventualities. Passengers have been urged to remain alert and to report any suspicious activity or person on railway premises to the helpline number 139 without delay.

The ministry emphasised that intelligence gathering at beat level is being strengthened and that modern tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), drones and closed circuit television (CCTV) are being deployed more intensively. Upgrades to camera specifications and the expansion of coverage across stations and routes were highlighted as priorities. Authorities indicated that technology will be used in mission mode to process inputs faster and to support field officers in preventing and responding to threats.

Discussions also covered improved operational coordination between the Railway Board headquarters, the RPF and the Government Railway Police (GRP) to enhance information sharing and response. Cyber security measures and AI based surveillance and monitoring were identified for strengthening as part of a wider security framework. The ministry reiterated the appeal for passenger cooperation and vigilance during travel and while waiting at station premises to help contain anti social activities.
