Southern Railway achieves complete electrification

Southern Railway has achieved 100 per cent electrification across its network, marking a key infrastructure modernisation milestone. The transition is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce diesel dependence and lower emissions. Electrification will support faster train movement, better resource utilisation and improved reliability. The achievement aligns with Indian Railways’ wider programme to electrify its network and promote cleaner, more energyefficient rail transportation across the country.
