Indore tops in govt's Smart City contest

The greatest "National Smart City Award" went to Indore on Friday, with Surat and Agra coming in second and third. The India Smart Cities Awards for 2022 were announced on Friday by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry. At a ceremony on September 27 in Indore, President Droupadi Murmu will deliver the awards.

The best 'State Award' went to Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu came in second place among the 66 winners in various categories. Together, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were ranked third.

The top spot in the Union territory category goes to Chandigarh. According to the ministry, it also won the best governance award for its e-government services.

The top three cities among the 100 being built as part of the Modi administration's Smart Cities Mission are Indore, Surat in Gujarat, and Agra.
