INOX Air Products has flagged off India’s first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker approved by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation, marking a significant step towards sustainable transportation in the industrial gas sector. The deployment follows a June 2025 amendment by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade to the Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016, permitting the use of LNG as a transport fuel for cryogenic applications.

The tanker was flagged off by P Seeniraj, Joint Chief Controller of Explosives, PESO Vadodara Circle. It is powered by a 450-litre LNG fuel tank manufactured by INOX India. The LNG-fuelled configuration is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 25 per cent, cut particulate emissions by 95 per cent and deliver quieter, more efficient operations, while supporting long-term cost optimisation.

Commenting on the milestone, Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Group, said the initiative reflects the convergence of progressive policy support, indigenous engineering and sustainable innovation, and sets a new benchmark for clean logistics in the industrial gases industry.

The development also represents a Made-in-Gujarat milestone, with both the cryogenic tanker and LNG fuel tank designed and manufactured at INOX Group facilities in Gujarat. The tanker will transport industrial gases produced within the state to customers across Gujarat, reinforcing a localised and resilient supply chain supported by proactive state government engagement.
