The Pune metro rail project is set to get its first train set as the Titagarh Firema SpA has rolled out the first train for the project.
The prototype was unveiled at a virtual ceremony in the presence of Indian Ambassador to Italy Neena Malhotra, Italian Ambassador to India Vincenzo de Luca, Maharashtra Metro Cooperation Managing Director Brijesh Dixit, and others, according to the Italian subsidiary of Titagarh Wagons.
The first train sets manufactured for the MahaMetro Pune Project by Titagarh Firema SpA Plant in Italy are scheduled to arrive in Pune by September, according to Durga Shankar Mishra, secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
Titagarh Firema SpA was awarded a contract worth Rs 1,125 crore in September 2019 to design, manufacture, and supply 33 trains with three coaches each for the Pune Metro Rail Project.
Ultra-modern Aluminum coaches will be manufactured in India for the first time. According to the contract, the first three trains will be built in Caserta, Italy, with the remaining 31 trains being built in India.
These ultra-modern metro coaches combine the highest safety standards with modern Italian styling, and they are not only lightweight, resulting in low carbon emissions and fuel efficiency, but they also have the most up-to-date safety and convenience features.
