Foundation stone laid for Theni drinking water project

The foundation stone has been laid for a Rs.1624 mn drinking water supply project in Theni district. The project is expected to benefit 250 rural habitations in Andipatti, Kadamalaikundu-Mayiladumparai and Theni panchayat unions. The new project will cover left-over villages in the three panchayat unions that are downstream of the Vaigai dam. The work will be executed by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD). The foundation stone was also laid for a water supply scheme to be executed in Balasamudram town panchayat in Dindigul district, at a cost of Rs.96.2 mn. Other new projects in the southern region include the Thirumangalam municipality building at Rs.520 mn in Madurai district and quarters for sanitary workers in Allinagaram town panchayat in Theni district at Rs.30 mn.
