Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij has said that Ambala Cantonment in Haryana will receive seven new sectors to be developed under the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).

The new sectors will be numbered 27, 28, 36, 40, 40A, 41A and 42 and will form part of planned urban expansion for the cantonment area.

The minister indicated that HSVP will oversee the planning and provision of associated municipal infrastructure and services.

The sectors are expected to include residential areas, open spaces, commercial zones, transport and communication facilities and industrial spaces as part of an integrated development plan.

The project will cover over 1,000 acres of the constituency and adjoining villages including Ghasitpur, Bohawa, Shahpur, Brahmin Majra, Kardhan, Sarsehri, Chandpura, Machhonda, Ugada, Dukheri, Salarheri, Ranwala, Manglai and Sambhalkha.

Authorities anticipate that the additions will expand the city's boundaries and improve residential facilities.

The minister expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for approving the new sectors and said the government is accelerating infrastructure development works across the area.

To facilitate land contribution and acquisition, the state has opened the E-Bhoomi portal which will accept applications for two months until 30 April 2026, allowing landowners to apply online.

The portal is intended to streamline submissions and provide a centralised mechanism for processing land offers.

The minister had previously written to the government to request the formation of new HSVP sectors with the construction of the Ambala Ring Road in mind and has held meetings with officials to propose surveys to identify suitable locations along the road.

The minister said the E-Bhoomi portal will ensure transparency in the land acquisition process and that farmers or landowners who wish to sell voluntarily can submit their applications.

The minister added that landowners will receive fair compensation and can directly participate in the development process, with the state aiming to balance planning needs and stakeholders' interests.
