IFFCO Chowk SPR Corridor And Sector 68-69 Link Get Haryana Approval
The IFFCO Chowk–SPR corridor will cover sector?dividing roads between Sectors 28/29, 43/44, 52/52A and 56/57 and will involve seven point one km of main carriageway being overlaid with bituminous material. Footpaths and cycle tracks will be developed on both sides and stormwater drainage will be installed alongside upgraded junctions, grills and other safety interventions. The Rs 418.6 mn project is targeted for completion within one year and officials indicated preparatory activity such as removal of electricity pylons will begin soon. An underpass is also being constructed near Z Chowk opposite the Millennium City Centre metro station to ease traffic flow.
The second package, costing Rs 268.3 mn, will connect the Southern Peripheral Road and Sohna Road to improve access to Sectors 68, 69, 70, 70A, 75 and 76 and to emerging residential and commercial developments. It includes 900 metres of new main carriageway, overlaying 1,100 metres of existing carriageway and nearly two km of new two?lane service road, together with footpaths, cycle tracks and horticulture works. Project planning documents indicate the works will reduce congestion on existing arteries and provide an alternative route for local traffic.
GMDA officials said the combined schemes form part of a broader effort to upgrade urban mobility and support planned growth in peripheral sectors, with construction schedules arranged to minimise commuter disruption. The HPWPC decision follows technical appraisals and budget allocations and will proceed to tendering and execution phases under agency oversight.
