Maharashtra Transport Minister Sets Two-Month Deadline For Kashigaon
The visit noted that two of the four planned access points remain unfinished, attributing the shortfall to technical challenges and resistance from some landowners. Officials were ordered to restart stalled work at once, with particular emphasis on sections affected by disputes involving nearby developers. The minister instructed administrative and police authorities to take decisive action against any parties obstructing progress and set a clear 60-day compliance window.
To alleviate parking constraints the minister identified a newly available 133-metre land parcel adjacent to the station and urged that a larger adjoining plot be transferred to enable a full-scale parking plaza. He asked agencies to prepare plans that integrate the plaza with existing access points and to expedite approvals so work can resume without further delay. Officers were reminded to prioritise measures that would improve commuter flow and reduce roadside parking that contributes to congestion.
The MMRDA and civic bodies were given clear operational directives and a requirement to report progress within the timeframe so corrective steps can be monitored. The directive signals a move towards coordinated urban management around transit nodes and aims to restore reliable access for residents and daily travellers. If implemented within the deadline the interventions are expected to ease pressure on surrounding roads and enhance the functionality of Kashigaon station on Mumbai Metro Line 9.
