GMDA Plans Rs 390 Million Road Link to NH-48

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated plans to build a 2.3-kilometre road linking Naurangpur Village to Rampura Chowk on National Highway-48. The proposed Rs 390 million infrastructure project is set to enhance connectivity for residents of sectors 78, 79, 80, 79B, and surrounding areas.
According to GMDA officials, the estimate has been prepared and will soon be submitted for administrative approval. “This road will have all required amenities and enable smooth vehicular movement,” said a senior GMDA official.
The stretch will begin at Rampura Chowk and terminate at the T-point between sectors 78 and 79, where a dividing road already exists. The project will also benefit the residents of Manesar Police Lines, Naurangpur village, and Tauru.
The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Land Acquisition Officer have already handed over the acquired land to GMDA, paving the way for construction.
As per the proposal, the new road will feature a 60-metre-wide carriageway with six lanes, complete with drainage and pedestrian footpaths. Officials noted that the project will significantly improve connectivity between NH-48 and the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), especially for emerging sectors in the region.
Despite land compensation having been paid, the project encountered delays due to encroachments and existing structures. “Construction was held up as many landowners had not vacated the land despite accepting compensation,” the GMDA official said.
To resolve this, HSVP carried out demolition drives in March and April 2025, removing 10 shops, a roadside eatery, and around 25 houses. GMDA’s enforcement team also undertook separate demolitions and demarcated land to define the road and drainage alignment.
In addition to this road, GMDA stated it has already upgraded most roads in the newer sectors and is currently working at full speed on road rehabilitation projects in Old Gurugram.
