Navi Mumbai Metro Line One Conducts Security Drill At Central Park
The Quick Response Team of the Navi Mumbai Police, together with local police units, mobilised a synchronised tactical response to regain control of the station. The exercise evaluated crowd management measures, the sealing of access points to prevent further infiltration, and the effectiveness of emergency communications between metro operators and first responders. Dedicated lines and protocols were assessed for clarity and speed.
Disaster coordination was examined through integrated action with medical teams and disaster management units to ensure casualty handling and rapid medical assistance. Officials monitored how quickly wounded commuters could be triaged and moved to safety and how medical teams were deployed. The scenario also allowed planners to check logistical arrangements for transport and shelter.
Senior officials from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and senior police leadership observed the drill and expressed appreciation for the professionalism and timing of the response. Commuters and station staff cooperated fully with authorities during the brief simulated lockdown and evacuation. Officials said routine drills are important for identifying operational gaps.
Authorities added that such exercises refine inter-agency communication and help update standard operating procedures to meet evolving security challenges. The exercise highlighted areas for further training and procedural tuning without indicating any current threat to public operations. Metro services resumed normal operations after the controlled exercise concluded.
