HZL, GreenLine Launch Rs 4 Billion Green Logistics Push

Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) has initiated one of India’s largest green logistics transitions through a partnership with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd. This collaboration marks a major step towards the company’s ambition to achieve 100 per cent decarbonisation of its supply chain, by integrating advanced Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) trucks across its logistics network.
In a statement, HZL said, “This expansion marks a major step forward in Hindustan Zinc’s pursuit of Net Zero emissions, enabled by the widespread integration of EVs and LNG trucks throughout its supply chain.”
As part of the agreement, GreenLine Mobility will invest Rs 4 billion to deploy 100 electric trucks that will replace diesel vehicles used for inter-unit concentrate movement between HZL’s mines and smelters. Additionally, GreenLine will establish India’s first commercial-scale battery swapping infrastructure with three high-capacity stations, enabling round-the-clock operations. The company will also expand HZL’s LNG fleet by adding 100 new trucks, bringing the total to 200 for long-haul finished goods transport.
Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said: “At Hindustan Zinc, we are unwavering in our commitment to pioneering sustainable practices. This large-scale deployment of EVs and LNG trucks is a bold move in our journey to net zero and reinforces our dedication to building a cleaner, more sustainable supply chain through innovative logistics solutions and strategic partnerships.”
The initiative is also expected to yield cost efficiencies through reduced freight rates and lower fuel costs. It is estimated to cut approximately 236 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions each month — the equivalent of planting around 12,000 trees, according to the company.
Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, said: “Clean transport is not just a future choice — it is a present-day responsibility. This deployment with Hindustan Zinc demonstrates the urgent need to decarbonise industrial logistics at scale. With our LNG and EV fleet, built by Blue Energy Motors, we are combining innovation and sustainability in a way that delivers real impact for industry.”
