Kanpur city passes 31 Smart City projects worth Rs 1k cr

The Smart City Corporation Limited had passed 31 projects worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore in its 14th board meeting.

It was decided that a separate bank account for the expenditure for operations and maintenance (O&M) of the projects of the Kanpur Smart City after completion.

Divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar informed the board members that he has approved the proposal to Appoint IIT Kanpur as a Technical Support Group (TSG) for the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) project for the next two years.

He added that it would ensure the best possible use of facilities available in ICCC and artificial intelligence (AI) in Intelligent Transit Management System (ITMS) and traffic management.

The Smart City board also cleared the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Innovation and Research in Science and Technology (FIRST).

The Board was directed to set up a committee for supervising the operation and management of facilities at the stadium. The members gave in-principle approval to take up O&M through a private partnership of the visitor gallery, convention centre, multi-level parking, vendor kiosk, badminton court, gym and upcoming new swimming pool after completed by Kanpur Smart City.

The major projects approved by the Board include the development of Bada Chauraha, facial attendance recognition system in Kanpur Nagar Nigam, Phase-II of the green park visitor gallery, development of badminton and gym hall at the green park, 20 transfer stations for the solid waste management system, constructing smart road around Chunniganj convention centre, open gym and parks, installation of large solar systems in government buildings in ABD Area, developing public places near Anandeshwar temple, construction and development of 30 smart bus stop in the city.
