Sulphur recovery unit commissioned at CPCL Manali refinery

Rameswar Teli, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, has recently commissioned a Rs 5.7 billion new sulphur recovery unit at the Chennai Petroleum Corporation (CPCL) refinery in Manali. According to CPCL, the unit would process high-sulphur crude on a continuous and sustainable basis. Teli was welcomed by CPCL managing director Arvind Kumar and senior officials at the Manali refinery during a brief visit to the city. The facility would convert the refinery's hydrogen sulphide gas to elemental sulphur, reducing the number of sulphur compounds released into the atmosphere. The plant would also provide significant environmental benefits, according to a company statement.
