Torrent Secures ISTS Renewables in Maharashtra

Torrent Power has secured the rights to develop inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected renewable projects in Maharashtra. The company emerged as the successful bidder in a competitive auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

The project involves the establishment of ISTS-connected solar and wind power projects in Maharashtra. Torrent Power will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, operation, and maintenance of the projects.

The auction, conducted under SECI's ISTS program, is part of the government's ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy generation and facilitate the transmission of clean energy across states. Torrent Power's successful bid positions the company to contribute significantly to the renewable energy landscape in Maharashtra.

Implementation Status of Jal Jeevan Mission

Since August 2019 the Government has implemented Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured potable water through household tap connections in rural India. At the start of the mission only 32.3 million (mn) rural households, representing 16.7 per cent, were reported to have tap water connections. States and union territories have reported that 125.8 mn additional rural households have since been provided with tap connections.
