- Sharad Mahendra, CEO, JSW Steel Coated ProductsJSW Steel continues to be the preferred supplier for roofing and cladding sheets for the warehousing segment in the Indian market. It enjoys a business share of over 40 per cent in the country’s steel roofing segment, including galvanised products, galvalume and colour-coated roofing sheets. “We offer the widest range of colours, coating combinations, sizes and profiles for the warehousing sector,” says Sharad Mahendra, CEO, JSW Steel Coated Products, with pride. JSW Steel is the first licensee of galvalume in India. Galvalume products offer superior corrosion-resistance compared to other coating technologies, making your roof last longer even in the harshest of weather conditions, he adds, as he shares more on the market and the company’s offerings.Tell us about your recent launches for the warehousing sector. According to our market research, there is a latent need to have customised offerings and end user-specific benefits. A local warehouse in coastal areas may need higher corrosion resistance whereas a pharma company may require special anti-microbial coatings for their clean rooms. To address these demands, we have come up with ‘JSW Radiance’, which is available in variants like Anti-Microbial, Anti-Dust, Cool Roof, Anti-Graffiti, High Gloss, etc. This brand has been launched keeping in mind the requirements of roofing and cladding sheets in the warehousing sector. The Anti-Graffiti variant is uniquely designed for warehousing and PEB applications; the Anti-Dust variant has built-in properties where stained surface can be easily cleaned by wiping; and the Cool-Roof variant is designed to keep thermal efficiency in mind. To round off the range is the High Gloss variant – high-gloss paints are easier to clean. Meanwhile, the Anti-Microbial variant is aimed at usage in HVAC ducts, appliances, hospitals, cold storages, interior panels, etc. This is based on non-toxic, human-safe antimicrobial additives that are added to topcoats and back-coats. For our retail customers, we have Colouron Plus, available in Anti-Dust, High Gloss and Cool-Roof variants. How do you ensure the quality of products supplied for the sector? We have a well-defined quality assurance plan against which material is produced, inspected, verified and supplied. There are 20 stringent quality tests to ensure the best quality product is supplied to customers. Pre-painted galvanised material and pre-painted galvalume material are supplied as per ISI standards. All applicable tests for proper paint adhesion, coating and durability are conducted on 100 per cent of the material produced. We are the first BIEC licence holder for manufacturing galvalume material in India. How do you customise your offerings based on demands from the warehousing sector? We have developed over 5,000 colours as per customers’ requirements. We are also suppliers to OEMs in the PEB sector. Generally, when there are business enquiries, our team will discuss specific requirements with our technical experts and customise offerings. Based on parameters like usage or location of the warehouse, we propose the applicable variant to be used for better performance. An additional highlight is that our recently launched brand JSW Radiance and premium brand JSW Colouron Plus come with a warranty of 10 years under standard conditions.
