In order to reduce trafic congestion, the Maharashtra Government has approved an expansion project worth Rs 40 bn on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The first bridge will be 770-m-long and 30-m-high, and will run from Khopoli exits through an interchange at Kusgaon, at the Pune-end of the expressway. The second one will be 645-m-long and 135-m-high. Also, the first tunnel will be 1.60-km-long and the second one will be 8.9-km-long and 150-m-deep.
