Under the 'PM Gati Shakti Multimodal Waterways Summit 2022,' the Government of India has pushed the envelope to make inland waterways a sustainable, cost-effective, and hassle-free mode of transportation. Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, has inaugurated seven community jetties. Sonowal and Adityanath also laid the groundwork for eight new jetties on the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh. Sonowal reportedly stated that development work is being done from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh under the policy of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.' The country is progressing in every field, from waterways to railways, air transport to highways, he reportedly added saying that India will be self-sufficient in the next 25 years, as envisioned by Prime Minister.
