Public-private partnerships have been a significant source of funding for port development, and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has 44 projects in the works that will require a combined investment of Rs 229,000 million through 2024–2025. The government is also developing rules for handling stressed public-private partnership PPP projects at significant ports and has also developed policies to promote the shipbuilding sector in India.
