Ascenso Invests US$100 Million in Mining Tyre Manufacturing

Ascenso Tyres has announced a US$100 million investment to expand its All Steel Radial Off-The-Road tyre manufacturing capability in India, as it strengthens its presence in the mining and heavy earthmoving segments.

The investment will support advanced manufacturing infrastructure, radial production technology, product development, testing facilities, engineering capability and future capacity expansion at the company’s Indian manufacturing facility.

Ascenso’s mining tyre portfolio began with 25-inch products and has expanded to include 49-inch giant mining tyres, with larger sizes under development. The range is aimed at applications spanning construction, quarrying and large open-pit mining operations.

The company said its Radial OTR products are designed, engineered and manufactured in India and benchmarked against established global premium brands. Ascenso is positioning the range around high performance and competitive lifecycle costs for mining operators.

According to the company, large-format mining tyres used in India have historically depended heavily on imports. Ascenso said its expansion is aimed at developing domestic engineering and manufacturing capability for this segment while also serving international markets.

The company is also deploying more than 15 Field Application Engineers across key mining markets globally, including major mining regions in India. The engineers will work with mine operators to monitor tyre performance, analyse wear patterns and feed operating data into the company’s R&D programmes.

Ascenso’s Radial OTR development programme began in late 2023. Its technology roadmap extends through 2027 and 2028, with plans to introduce additional sizes and tread patterns for mining, earthmoving and loader applications.

“Our US$100 million investment is about building world-class radial mining tyre engineering and manufacturing capability within the country, not simply adding capacity,” said Yogesh Mahansaria, Managing Director, Ascenso Tyres.

Dhaval Nanavati, Chief Executive Officer, Ascenso Tyres, said the company is placing field application engineers in key mining belts including Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka to support product development based on real operating conditions.

Ascenso said the expansion forms part of its long-term strategy to offer Indian mining operators a domestically manufactured alternative to imported radial mining tyres while building a wider global OTR portfolio.
