Liebherr Expands Compact Excavator Range

Liebherr has expanded its compact excavator portfolio with the introduction of the Generation 8 R 915 Compact G8, R 917 Compact G8 and R 920 Compact G8 crawler excavators. Developed and manufactured by Liebherr-France SAS in Colmar, the models were presented at Bauma 2025 and are now available for the market.

Positioned in the 15 to 20-tonne class, the new range is designed for earthmoving, road construction, utility installation and urban construction projects. The machines combine compact dimensions with strong digging performance, improved manoeuvrability and high operating efficiency, making them suitable for confined and demanding construction environments.

The models feature Liebherr’s new emCAB operator cab and INTUSI operating concept, offering an ergonomic workspace with intuitive, customisable controls. High-precision electric joysticks support smooth and accurate machine movement, helping reduce operator fatigue and improve productivity during daily operations.

The R 917 Compact G8 is a new addition to the range and is designed for urban worksites. Its 1,700 mm tail swing radius enables efficient operation in tight spaces, while its performance makes it suitable for lifting work and pipeline construction.

The R 915 Compact G8 delivers 90 kW, the R 917 Compact G8 offers 100 kW, and the R 920 Compact G8 provides 110 kW. Liebherr said optimised engine and hydraulic performance, accessible service points and digital solutions such as MyLiebherr Maintenance and Performance will help improve uptime, cost control and fleet management.
