Godrej Industries Group Plans Rs 200 Billion Haryana Investment

Godrej Industries Group plans to invest Rs 200 billion (Rs 200 bn) in Haryana, with its real estate businesses accounting for the bulk of the proposed outlay as the group seeks to expand in residential and commercial markets. A memorandum of understanding signed with the Haryana government in the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini outlines investments that the group said have the potential to support around 40,000 jobs by financial year 2028. The group has already invested around Rs 120 bn in the state and employs about 9,000 people across its businesses there.

Godrej Properties will be the largest contributor, planning a further Rs 160 bn in Haryana by financial year 2028 after having invested about Rs 110 bn so far. The company currently has 18 projects across Gurugram, Sonipat, Faridabad, Panipat and Kurukshetra and expects its future developments to generate more than 11,000 jobs. Demand for residential and commercial developments in Gurugram and the wider National Capital Region remains supported by urbanisation and the expansion of corporate and global capability centre operations.

Godrej Ventures, the group’s real estate private equity business, plans to invest another Rs 35 bn in Grade A+ office infrastructure in Gurugram, taking its total investment in the state to around Rs 45 bn. The proposed office projects are expected to generate more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs and aim to strengthen Gurugram’s commercial ecosystem and its attractiveness to multinational companies and global capability centres. The group said job estimates include both direct and indirect employment across its businesses.

Other group businesses maintain an established presence in the state, with Godrej Capital operating five branches and facilitating around Rs 5.5 bn in bookings through its financing business. Godrej Consumer Products operates with 42 direct distributors and more than 250 rural stockists across Haryana. GIG chairperson Pirojsha Godrej noted that Haryana has emerged as an important growth driver given the state’s economic depth and pace of urbanisation and said the investments are intended to boost local residential and commercial markets.
