India announces 100 projects worth $80 mn in Afghanistan

India has signed an agreement with Afghanistan for the construction of the Shahtoot Dam. This project will help in providing safe drinking water to 2 mn residents of Kabul city. During the 2020 Afghanistan Conference, organised in Geneva, it was announced that India will undertake more than 100 projects worth $80 mn in Afghanistan. Other large infrastructure projects completed with India’s assistance include the construction of a 218-km road between Delaram and Zaranj (on the Iranian border), which provides alternative connectivity for Afghanistan through Iran; India–Afghanistan friendship dam (also known as the Salma dam); and the Afghan Parliament building—this Assembly was built by India as part of its contribution in the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
