NLMC to Monetise Land and Buildings Worth Rs. 50 bn

The National Land Monetisation Corporation (NLMC) has recommended proposals to monetise surplus land and building assets valued at more than Rs. 50 bn, as the government-owned entity seeks to unlock value from underutilised public property. The proposals were considered at the 21st meeting of NLMC’s Board of Directors on Friday.

The meeting reviewed the corporation’s asset monetisation programme, financial performance and institutional initiatives. It also assessed progress in facilitating the monetisation of surplus assets held by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other government entities. NLMC is working with asset-owning organisations to identify suitable properties and advance them through the required processes.

These processes include due diligence, valuation and the structuring of appropriate monetisation routes. The corporation said the programme is intended to improve transparency, efficiency and value realisation, while ensuring that public assets are handled through clear and accountable mechanisms. The Board considered measures to accelerate progress and address implementation requirements.

The directors also emphasised the need to maintain momentum and strengthen coordination with ministries, departments, CPSEs and other stakeholder entities. This coordination is intended to help identified properties move through valuation, approval and transaction stages in a timely manner. NLMC said productive use of surplus land and buildings could unlock value from assets that may otherwise remain underutilised.

NLMC is a wholly owned government company under the administrative control of the Department of Public Enterprises. It was established to undertake and facilitate the monetisation of surplus land and building assets held by CPSEs and other government bodies. The corporation said it will continue working with public authorities and asset-owning entities to identify properties, support monetisation and promote more effective use of public resources.
