YKK India to Set Up Manufacturing Facility at Origins Chennai

Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, has announced that YKK India will establish a new manufacturing facility at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai.

According to YKK India, the proposed facility will be its third manufacturing plant in the country and will span approximately 149,936 sq. m. The company plans to invest US$150 million in the project, which is expected to be completed by February 2028.

YKK India, a manufacturer of fastening products serving the apparel, textile and industrial sectors, will develop the facility within the integrated industrial cluster to support both domestic demand and export-oriented manufacturing. The plant will incorporate YKK's advanced manufacturing technologies and benefit from the industrial park's infrastructure, logistics connectivity and sustainability-focused ecosystem.

The addition of YKK India further expands the roster of international manufacturers operating at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai, which already includes companies such as Mitsubishi Electric, Yanmar and Omron.

"We are delighted to welcome YKK India to Origins by Mahindra, Chennai," said Vikram Goel, Chief Business Officer – Industrial, Mahindra Lifespace Developers. "The addition of another globally respected manufacturer to our ecosystem reflects the growing confidence of international companies in India's manufacturing capabilities and long-term growth potential."

He added that as companies diversify supply chains and expand manufacturing operations to serve both domestic and export markets, they are increasingly seeking industrial destinations that can support scale, operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Origins by Mahindra, Chennai is located on NH16 and falls within the influence zones of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Chennai-Visakhapatnam Industrial Corridor (CVIC). The industrial cluster offers connectivity to major industrial centres, ports and logistics infrastructure, supporting efficient manufacturing and supply chain operations.

The investment reinforces Origins by Mahindra's position as a preferred destination for global manufacturing companies looking to expand their presence in India.
