Delhi allows BS-VI diesel vehicle registration

The Delhi government has given the green light for the registration of all BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles for inter-state stage carriage in the national capital. This decision comes after a Supreme Court order on July 24 modified its previous ruling, allowing the registration of all BS VI-compliant diesel vehicles in Delhi, regardless of their need for the G20 summit.

Referring to the Supreme Court's judgment, an order from the Delhi Transport Department stated, "... the competent authority is pleased to allow the registration of all BS VI compliant Diesel vehicles in GNCT of Delhi for Inter-State Stage Carriage, All India Tourist Permit (AITP) holders having capacity of more than 7+1 persons, coaches, buses."

The Delhi Taxi and Tourist Transporters' Operators' Association has welcomed this decision while expressing concern about the delay in the issuance of the order by the Transport Department. They believe this move will generate revenue for the Delhi government, and these registered buses and tempo travellers, with lower emissions than CNG vehicles, will contribute to reduced pollution.
