EMS Emerges as L1 Bidder For Rs 1,058.2 mn Sewerage Contract

EMS Ltd said it received lowest bidder (L1) status from UP Jal Nigam (Urban), Varanasi, for a sewerage project with an estimated order value of Rs 1,058.2 mn excluding GST. The company said the contract was awarded by a domestic entity and its promoter group had no interest in the awarding body, adding the contract did not constitute a related party transaction. The project covers surveying, soil investigation, design, supply of materials, labour and turnkey works to provide sewer house connections and associated works in the Ramnagar Zone extended area of Nagar Nigam Varanasi.

The scope includes construction of a 10 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) with a co-treatment plant, a sewage pumping station (SPS), boundary wall, staff quarters and gate, together with site development. It also covers laying and jointing of the rising main and the sewer network and provision of sewer house connections. The contract carries an execution period of 24 months and the company said further updates would follow on receipt of the Letter of Award.

EMS previously said it had emerged as the lowest bidder for a separate sewerage project from the Delhi Jal Board, with an estimated order value of Rs 1,582.9 mn including GST and an execution period of 15 months. That order was awarded by the Office of the Executive Engineer and will be executed under the terms set out in the contract, the company said, adding it would provide details when the Letter of Award was received. The recent wins form part of a broader pipeline of water and sewerage infrastructure work reported by the firm.

Shares of EMS Ltd closed at Rs 232.60 on the BSE, down by Rs 17.85, or 3.88 per cent. The company reiterated the awards were from domestic entities and not related party transactions and confirmed it would disclose formal documentation in due course. Market reaction reflected the update as the firm moves to convert bidding success into executable orders across its municipal infrastructure portfolio.
