Suzlon to Invest Rs. 5.5 bn in 3 AI-Powered Wind Blade Factories

Suzlon Group will invest around Rs. 5.5 bn to establish three artificial intelligence-powered wind blade factories in Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, as it seeks to accelerate execution of its order book and meet rising domestic demand. Company co-founder Girish Tanti said the projects will be funded through internal accruals.

Two facilities are planned for Gujarat and Karnataka, while the third will be established in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu project will receive Rs. 2 bn, with the remaining investment allocated to the other two facilities. The factories are expected to be operational by 2027 and will be located closer to wind project sites to improve logistics.

Suzlon currently operates five blade factories in Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule and Anantapur. The addition of the new units will take its manufacturing network to 18 factories, giving the company what it described as India’s largest smart wind manufacturing capacity. The plants are planned to create 3,000 direct and 12,000 indirect jobs, with 80 per cent of employment in rural areas.

The new facilities will use artificial intelligence-enabled systems to improve productivity, quality and workplace safety. Suzlon has already introduced automation in blade manufacturing and is extending an integrated digital architecture to nacelle production through Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Internet of Things (IoT) integration and robotics for selected tasks.

Artificial intelligence-based vision systems will support instant defect detection, while digital quality platforms and the company’s SAFER safety application will strengthen traceability and workplace assurance. As of March 2026, Suzlon had an order book of around 6 GW from multiple clean energy companies.

For FY26, Suzlon reported revenue of Rs. 166.79 bn and net profit of Rs. 31.63 bn, compared with revenue of Rs. 108.51 bn and net profit of Rs. 20.72 bn in FY25. The expansion comes as the government promotes domestic production of efficient wind equipment.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
