Donaldson Names Richard Lewis President and CEO

Donaldson Company, Inc. has announced that its Board of Directors has elected Chief Operating Officer Richard Lewis as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 2 March 2026. Lewis will succeed Tod Carpenter, who will transition to the role of Executive Chairman after a 30-year career with the company, including 11 years as President and CEO. Lewis will also join Donaldson’s Board.
Christopher Hilger, Lead Independent Director, thanked Carpenter for his leadership, noting that under his tenure the company expanded revenue and profit, strengthened its operating model and created long-term shareholder value. Hilger added that Lewis’s deep understanding of Donaldson’s businesses and operations positions him well to build on the company’s track record of success.
Carpenter said the appointment reflects Donaldson’s long-term succession planning process and the company’s strong organisational position. He added that Lewis has played a key role in shaping and executing the company’s strategy and is well placed to lead its next phase of growth.
Lewis said he looks forward to building on the momentum established under Carpenter’s leadership, supported by a strong leadership team, clear strategy and customer-focused culture.
Lewis joined Donaldson in 2002 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in August 2025. He has held multiple senior leadership roles, including overseeing global operations as Senior Vice President and serving as President of the Mobile Solutions and Life Sciences businesses.
