Naidu Urges GMR Group to Complete Bhogapuram Airport by June 2026

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the GMR Group to expedite the construction of Bhogapuram Airport, with a deadline set for June 2026. This strategic move aims to enhance the state?s aviation infrastructure and boost connectivity, potentially transforming the region into a prominent aviation hub. The Bhogapuram Airport, located near Visakhapatnam, is envisioned to support the state's economic growth by improving air connectivity and accommodating increasing passenger traffic. During a review meeting, Naidu emphasised the importance of adhering to the project timeline and ensuring that all necessary resources and manpower are mobilised to meet the target completion date. The airport's development is set to include a modern terminal building, advanced air traffic control systems, and robust infrastructure to handle both domestic and international flights. This project is expected to bolster tourism, promote trade, and stimulate economic activities in the surrounding areas. Naidu highlighted that the timely completion of the Bhogapuram Airport would significantly enhance Andhra Pradesh's logistical capabilities and contribute to the state?s development agenda. The airport is also expected to alleviate congestion at the Visakhapatnam Airport and cater to the growing demand for air travel in the region.
