Ajaz Jan Lays Foundation for Two Poonch Roads

Haveli MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan laid the foundation stones for two road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Mandi block of Poonch district on Tuesday. The PMGSY-IV projects have a combined sanctioned cost of around Rs. 210.1 mn and are intended to improve connectivity in remote and hilly areas.

The first project involves construction and maintenance of the 5 km L027 Link Road from NABARD Road at Jallian towards Gujjaran. Sanctioned under Package No. JK114043 of PMGSY-IV, Batch-I of 2026-27, the project has been allocated Rs. 116.82 mn.

The second project covers the 4.15 km L041 Link Road from Rajpura PS Road at kilometre 1.600 to Ziarat Arai Gali. Listed under Package No. JK11-4053 of PMGSY-IV, Batch-I of 2026-27, it has a sanctioned cost of Rs. 93.29 mn.

Both projects include provisions for road construction and subsequent maintenance, with the aim of ensuring long-term usability and improving transportation facilities. The roads will connect adjoining villages and are expected to ease travel difficulties for residents of the area.

The projects are also intended to improve access to healthcare, education, markets and other essential services, while supporting local economic activity. Their implementation forms part of continuing efforts to strengthen road infrastructure across the Haveli Assembly Constituency, particularly in locations where difficult terrain has affected connectivity.

Road development projects involving substantial public investment are being undertaken across the constituency to address longstanding infrastructure requirements and improve access to public services. The newly launched works are expected to provide more reliable links between rural settlements and key facilities once completed.
