Jangpetkong Road Project Begins in Nagaland

The Jangpetkong Road Construction Phase 1 project, covering a 20-km stretch from Changki X Junction to Dibuia and Luyong, has been launched in Nagaland. The launching programme was held at Orija Salang in Changki on Friday.

Advisor for Transport and Technical Education Temjenmenba described the project as a significant milestone for the Jangpetkong range and constituency. He said the area had not had a proper blacktopped road since Nagaland attained statehood, apart from a brief period in the early 1980s.

Temjenmenba highlighted the importance of dependable road connectivity for the region’s development. He said an effective communication network would support progress across social, cultural, educational and economic sectors, helping residents advance on a footing comparable with people elsewhere.

The advisor expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for placing the project on the government’s priority list. He also acknowledged the concerned department and minister for providing the support required to implement the project.

The programme included speeches by the president of Jangpetkong Mungdang, several village council chairmen, the president of NPF 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency, and the presidents of Jangpetkong Tetsür Telongjem and JKTM. Er. Chubatoshi presented a technical overview, while Niholu Ayemi, director of Ayemi Enterprises, addressed the gathering.

Changki Watsu Telen chaired the programme, and Tsupongtsungba Changkiri delivered the welcome address on behalf of the Changki Village Council. The pastor of Changki Yimlang Baptist Church led the invocation, while the pastor of Baptist Church Changki offered the dedicatory prayer. The project is expected to improve access for communities along the identified route and strengthen links between the Jangpetkong area and adjoining settlements.
