As part of Kazipet-Balharshah electrification project, the South Central Railways (SCR) has commissioned the third line work along with electrification from Asifabad-Rechini road for a distance of 19 km. The Kazipet-Balharshah section is a vital link along the grand trunk route connecting northern parts with the southern region. With this, a total of 151 km has now been completed under this project. Taking into account the previously completed Raghavapuram-Mandamarri section, now a total of 184 km in Kazipet-Balharshah section has third line facility along with electrification. The section between Kazipet-Balharshahfalls in Telangana and Maharashtra. To decongest this section, tripling work for 33 km was done in 2016.
