Mumbai-Ahmedabad HSR: NHSRCL inks pact with IRCON

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed an agreement with IRCON International Limited for designing, supplying and constructing the rail tracks and related works for double line High-Speed Railway for the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor (MAHSR) T-2 Package.

According to a statement, the ballast-less slab Track system used in Japanese Bullet Trains will be used on the first high-speed rail corridor project of India.

NHSRCL said that Japan Railway Track Consultant Company Limited (JRTC) had given the detailed design and drawing of the high-speed rail track components, including RC Track bed, Track slab arrangement and continuous welded rail (CWR) forces, etc. The rail contract will boost the Made in India initiative.

Managing Director of NHSRCL, Satish Agnihotri, said that the corporation received support from JICA. He appreciated technical support from Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS), Japan Railway Track Consultant (JRTC) and Japan Information & Culture Center (JICC) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

Chief Representative of JICA India, Saito Mitsunori, said that the bullet train project would be a crucial part of railway safety and comfortable ride in Japanese Shinkansen technology. The contract will provide an opportunity for Indian companies to work with Japanese agencies, who are experts in Shinkansen technology.

Director Project of NHSRCL, Rajendra Prasad, said that the Shinkansen technology has an unpanelled safety record and track plays a vital role in safety. The experts from Japan will come to India to provide training to supervisors and workers who are involved in the project.
