Board clears port project in Ludhiana
November 2012

At a recent meeting of the Project Approval Board of Punjab government cleared the proposal to set up a dry port near Kila Raipur in Ludhiana.

The board, which is headed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, cleared the project as the proposed port may boost industrialisation, trade and commercial activity in Punjab.

The port is expected to be linked with the Eastern and Western Railway Freight corridor.

The dry port will be a joint venture of Punjab State Container and Warehousing Corporation and Container Corporation of India — a Navratna PSU of Ministry of Railways, an official spokesperson said.
