The Ministry of Defence has given a green signal to the Maharashtra Government to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed international airport near Pune city. As reported, German company Dorsch is working on the preparation of the DPR and will also develop the new airport at Purandar in Pune district.
The estimated cost of the airport is Rs 14,000 crore, however, the actual cost of the airport will be known after the report is completed. As per reports, land acquisition cost for the airport will be Rs 2,000 crore. Dorsh has prepared the DPR and developed airports in cities such as Berlin, Munich, Kuwait and Frankfurt. The German firm had been given the contract for the Pune project in March last year. The airport, which is expected to take around five years to be completed, will be spread across 2,400 hectare. The land acquisition will reportedly take place in seven villages of Purandare tehsil.
