The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) decided to repair footpaths at several areas of the city in order to facilitate pedestrians.
The civic body has reportedly estimated the cost to construct a footpath and would undertake construction work after the Metro project is completed. Also the civic body has given clear directions to remove garbage from the market area regularly.
Footpaths are either taken over for Metro construction activities or occupied by vendors. Currently, sewage water also flows on the footpath forcing pedestrians to walk on the road.
These vendors dump garbage on the footpath, open drains and sometimes also on the road, reports indicate.
