The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has approved the first instalment of Rs 107 crore for the development of Agra under the smart city project.
In the Phase-I, as per reports, area-based development works will be carried out around Taj Mahal. Out of the approved funds, Rs 4 crore has already been released for the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to initiate developmental works.
Agra was selected by the Central Government under its Smart City mission in September last year. An SPV, under the name Agra Smart City, was then constituted and registered under the Companies Act. The SPV will plan, appraise, approve, release funds, implement, manage, operate, monitor and evaluate the smart city developmental projects.
