Kobelco sets up mfg plant

Kobelco Construction Machinery Co, a group company of Japan's Kobe Steel Ltd, opened its first manufacturing plant in India in Andhra Pradesh. Built on 68,000 sq m, the plant is located at Sri City, a private industrial park featuring a multi-product special economic zone and a free trade and warehousing zone. The facility will have assembly, painting and shipping lines to produce hydraulic excavators. It will initially produce machines of 20 tonne class with an initial capacity of 1,200 units per year.
