Ritchie Bros to conduct first unreserved auction

Ritchie Bros Auctioneers, the world's largest auctioneer of heavy equipment, will conduct the first unreserved public auction at its new permanent auction site in Narita, Japan on January 27, 2010. The auction will feature high quality, used Japanese equipment. Ritchie Bros conducts hundreds of unreserved public auctions around the world each year, selling billions of dollars of used and unused equipment. The company has 39 auction sites worldwide. Every Ritchie Bros auction is unreserved. That means there are no minimum bids or reserve prices; every item is sold to the highest bidder on auction day, regardless of price. Ritchie Bros also forbids owners from bidding on their own items, which ensures that buyers set the prices at the auction, not sellers. The auctions are open to the general public and registration is free. The company displays equipment at its auction sites prior to each auction so that bidders can test, inspect and compare items before they bid on auction day.  It sells hundreds of thousands of industrial equipment items at its unreserved public auctions each year, including hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, wheel dozers, crawler tractors, motor graders and motor scrapers.
