PlumbexIndia'12

The event’s 5th edition showcased the latest in the world of plumbing products, processes and technology.

Date: March 16-18, 2012
Venue: Mumbai
Organiser: AIM Expositions

PlumbexIndia‘12 was organised at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East) in Mumbai in mid March this year. Conceived as a platform to showcase the latest in plumbing products and allied technologies, this show has time and again brought together competitive players of the industry and showcased their strengths and innovations. With four successful editions of the event behind them, the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and AIM Expositions Pvt Ltd (AIMEX) raised the bar with this edition.

PlumbexIndia’12 was formally inaugurated by Sudhakaran Nair, President, Indian Plumbing Association, after which came the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Water is Life’ – an international poster competition brought to India by IPA and AIMEX along with Zentralverband Sanitär, Heizung, Klima, Germany and Gentner Verlag, amongst others.

In his Presidential Address, Nair said that India needed plumbing technology that could stand up to its counterparts across the world. He cited plumbing codes, better exposure and training as the need of the hour. Chief Guest and architect Prem Nath shared his thoughts on the importance of a plumber and plumbing technology in the current scheme of things.

On the first day, the Plumbing Symposium on ‘Plumbing Installations: Design to Execution’ was organised as a concurrent event. Three eminent speakers, Megan Lehtonen, Director-Business Development, IAPMO Group, USA; P Ramachandran, Managing Director, GR Tech Services Pvt Ltd; and Sandeep Goel, Director, Spectral Services Consultants, deliberated on the theme.

While Lehtonen elucidated on the ‘Importance of Codes in Plumbing Design and Execution’, Ramachandran spoke about how plumbing is a complex field of engineering and a combination of various disciplines. Goel, on the other hand, gave a presentation on ‘Plumbing Design and Execution: A Consultant’s Perspective’. Taking a stand divergent to Ramachandran’s, he said that plumbing was not such a complex field but a simple subject. What one needed, was to do it right – the first time, every time. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Kamal Khokhani, Managing Director, AIM Expositions Pvt Ltd and co-organiser of PlumbexIndia’12.

Finally, as a highlight of the event, the Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Chandra Shekhar Gupta for exemplary contributions to the IPA. Gupta, founder member of IPA and Secretary since inception, heads the GMGR Group of Companies.

The show was supported by many leading industry bodies such as World Plumbing Council, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO-India), Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Institution of Fire Engineers (IFI) India. The sponsors included KITEC Industries (India) Ltd, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt Ltd, Lubrizol Corporation, Pentair Water (India) Pvt Ltd, Sintex Industries Ltd and Products Unlimited.

Over a 100 companies participated in the event this year and the increased footfalls announced the resounding success of PlumbexIndia’12 loud and clear.
